Wire transfer’s cost and time is according to the gateway of money transfer, region and the dedication of FX services in transaction branches. The transaction to the ICBC Smart Account will be done in the same day generally, if it is made in any branch of ICBC(Asia) containing FX services; the period of time and cost will be affected by the regions and gateway, if it is done by any other channels.

Q9: How much does the deposit charge?

The service charge is depended on the gateway of deposit. Through wire transfer in China banks, there is a deposit fee. Also, ICBC will charge HKD60 for each transaction.

Take the cross bank transaction as an example. If the deposit is made from China Construction bank to ICBC (Asia), first, it should be from The China Construction Bank to The China Construction Bank (Asia) (The Hong Kong Branch), and then through CHATS to ICBC (Asia). Due to a complicated transaction route, the cost will be higher.

Please notice that the Postal Savings Bank of China doesn’t have an official agent in Hong Kong. Since the deposit will be made by a third party agent, the transaction made from the Postal Savings Bank of China will be of much higher cost than any other banks.

Q10: Clients have deposit to the bank account, but why can’t they receive the money?

There are numbers of reasons:

  • If the deposit needs to go through several third party agents, it takes longer time to process;
  • The bank may not process the deposit on time, if it is made through the Internet;
  • Transaction error due to the incorrect information provided by client.

For situation 1)and 2), please contact your bank for more information. For situation 3) in general, the bank will voluntarily contact the account owner to confirm the transaction if the failure is due to incorrect information when it arrives at ICBC (Asia).
